VFW Post
2365 is dedicated to
serving veterans, service members and their families. We are fast evolving to accomplish the
National VFW’s objectives, here in our own local community. In doing so, we
have a lot to offer our members in the way of continued personal growth,
benefits, advancement, leadership opportunities and more. We are an eclectic
group valuing the participation of women and men veterans and service members
alike.
History
The VFW traces
its roots back to 1899 following the Spanish-American War (1898) and the
Philippine Insurrection (1899-1902). Local organizations were founded to secure
rights and benefits for those arriving home wounded or sick.
Fast forward these
local organizations become known as the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United
States quickly growing to nearly 200,000 members by 1936 and today number
nearly 2 million. Because of those early efforts the Veterans Administration was
establishing and the VFW has since continued to push for the rights of those
who have sacrificed so much for this country.
